Terminal Operations Manager, School Bus – Mazomanie, WI
Full-time, salaried position
Work Schedule/Hours: Monday – Friday work schedule; flexibility for varied hours in-between a start of 5:00/6:00 a.m. and ending 5:00/5:30 p.m. depending on weather dependent conditions.
Has onsite responsibility for all administrative and operational activities. The role must manage and maintain a safe work environment. The successful candidate is responsible for all operations associated with the School Bus Terminal including managing dispatch, drivers, office staff, training staff, and any shop personnel. They must ensure compliance with Federal, State and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements regarding safety along with monitoring and adhering to vehicle safety and accident investigation and reporting. The role follows established working plans and systems for school bus, charters, and other requested transportation that contribute to safe, on-time and consistent service to all customers – school districts, businesses and the general public. The Manager assures that staffing levels are adequate to meet operational requirements in a safe, professional and timely manner. The role is responsible for controlling costs in order to assure profitability of the Terminal. Performs responsibilities with commitment to safety and customer service.
Onsite supervision of all drivers, mechanics, and assigned office to meet operational needs and maintain a safe work environment. These duties include but are not limited to: recruiting, onboarding, and training employees; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Duties are performed in accordance with established company policies/and procedures. Establishes and maintains effective communication with Management Team and staff employees. Builds effective working relationships to ensure company objectives are met.
Must be able to obtain and/or retain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a “P” and “S” endorsement.
Minimum of 3-5 years prior supervisory experience or working with people in a leadership role.
Demonstrated skills involving the use of computers, software and other office equipment to input, store and retrieve needed information. Experience with MS Word and Excel.
Ability to communicate effectively with managers, staff and customers.
Knowledge of and experience with a customer service industry or organization.
Demonstrated ability to work well with others collaboratively.
Ability to manage and resolve conflict.
Exceptional communication and customer service skills
Prior experience in transportation industry
Associate Degree in related industry or equivalent experience
Intermediate knowledge and experience with MS Word and Excel
